Photobooth MAVs

Photobooth MAVs

2025 | Gundam GQuuuuuuX

Drawing that is meant to evoke a photo booth kind of look, drawn to commemorate the show’s final episode. Early on I sort of just did whatever I wanted with Char’s hair, including ignoring the new hairstyle they gave him (lol).

I ended up printing this out to make a decorated photocard with. “Decocards,” as they’re sometimes called, are common in Kpop fan spaces but are gaining popularity in other fandom spheres as well. The process involves putting a print, photo, or trading card into a hard plastic protective sleeve, and then arranging stickers on the sleeve so that the original art isn’t damaged by the stickers. I’d made a few of these with printed-out pictures before, but this was the first time I’d tried using my own art for one!

“MAV” is an in-universe slang term for friend or partner that was originally the name for a two-man military tactic that these two characters invented. It isn’t an acronym; it instead comes from the Japanese term mabu-dachi which means “bestie”.
